about

“Now you’re talking my language” was released in 2002 under the band’s original name ‘Society Syncopators’ and it was one of three nominations for ‘Best Australian Classic Jazz Album of the Year’ Bells Award. It has an eclectic selection of tunes in keeping with the band’s rationale of avoiding being stuck in any particular jazz genre and trying to keep clear of potboilers. Richard Miller’s ‘Dancing with Dud’ follows our usual practice of at least one original composition on the album, which also features a hidden track a couple of minutes after track 13, rather cheeky and topical at the time.
Correction to Track 10 title – one of Jelly Roll Morton’s tunes – it should read ‘If someone would only love me’.

The personnel are: Peter Gaudion (trumpet and main vocals); Richard Miller (clarinet and alto sax); Chris Ludowyk (trombone); Ben Johnston (piano); Jeff Arthur (guitar and banjo); James Clark (bass and tuba); Andrew Swann (drums, percussion and main vocals)
